Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the self-reported experiences of counselors implementing cardiac coherence methods, specifically Freeze Frame and emWave Biofeedback for stress mitigation and self-regulation. From the 42 codes originally classified, six final category codes were identified, including: easy emotion control, increased positive emotion, improved empathy capability, grounded heart, increased intuitive power and creativity, improved energy and greater overall health. Research found that participants established autonomous plans for the use of each tool and practiced based on their perception of its reliability derived from scientific and objective diagnosis. Self-analysis, especially through journal writing allowed the diagnosis-plan-practice to circulate continuously, helping to habituate autonomous self-regulation.
